They have longer lower limbs which will give them better chances to strike and hit the opponent thus earning them a point. It also makes their movement swifter because of their lighter weight. However, there are certain athletes who undergo drastic measures just to achieve a rapid amount of weight loss. Rapid decrease in weight done through fluid restriction, severe food deprivation, excessive exercise, use of laxatives and diuretics and even regular use of sauna will bring more harm to the body of Taekwondo athletes rather than good. It is a must that athletes should be fit before their tournament so they can properly execute their blocks, kicks and strikes.</p>
<p>These require maximum nutrition potential which can only be acquired through right combination of food and training. It is never wise to deter from eating nutritiously rich carbohydrate foods like pasta, whole grain cereals, rice, fruits and vegetables. The intake of protein rich food like lean meat, fish, chicken, beans and legumes holds vital nutrients that will help the body repair broken muscles and bones. What must be done instead of drastic weight loss regimen for these Taekwondo athletes is identification of the weight group category which they intend to enter on an earlier phase so they can safely plan their diet months before the tournament.</p>
<p>A training diet is not evil if and only if it can be planned accordingly. There is nothing wrong in trimming down on one&#8217;s weight but to do it in a flash will produce detrimental effects to the body. Nutritionists and heath experts suggest that Taekwondo athletes maintain a weight within 2-3 kilogram of their competition weight so they can minimize nutritional strategies which can drastically affect their body movements and coordination. Nevertheless, the following are helpful tips which Taekwondo athletes would wish to follow two to three days before their tournament.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If anyone talks about Korean martial arts people automatically assume that the talk is about the Olympic sport taekwondo. Many people haven&#8217;t heard of hapkido but it is also another martial art that originated from Korea. Hapkido means &#8220;the way of coordination and internal power&#8221; and the basic principle here is also the same as taekwondo that is the utilization of kicks and strikes however apart from kicks and strikes this style is more diverse and consists of manipulations techniques like throws, deflections and joint locks. It is believed to be more effective and better for self defense then taekwondo but it doesn&#8217;t have the same fame as taekwondo as it is not an organized sport like taekwondo.</p>
<p>There are several problems related to hapkido that I have noticed and one of them is that there are just too many organizations out there that give out the ranks and belts. What many of these organizations do wrong is that they give you the high ranks very fast. That eventually is not good for hapkido but they carry on with the practice because some organizations want to get the maximum number of member from all around the world. Because of the competition by so many organizations they don&#8217;t care about the quality that much awarding the higher ranks quickly on their members so they can keep them with them and attract new people from all over the world; this ultimately damages hapkido reputation.</p>
<p>Where you should get to the 7 Dan black belt after 30 years of hapkido training and to the 8th dan in minimum 40 years you end up getting their way to quickly while people don&#8217;t actually deserve that rank. So how to deal with the problem I did describe it a little bit in the end above and that is that if you want to start training hapkido you have to find out a good instructor and their training history. How long has he trained hapkido and for how long has he been training hapkido himself. If the internet age of today checking out the history and reputation of an organization is very easy via click of a few buttons. So if you want to learn hapkido get your research done and join a proper organization to avoid the problems later.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Taekwondo is one of the most common forms of martial arts in the world today. It traces its origins to Korea where it is both an art and a sport. The Korean interpretation of the name is as follows: &#8220;tae&#8221; means &#8220;to break with foot&#8221;, &#8220;kwon&#8221; means &#8220;to strike or to break with the fist&#8221;, and &#8220;do&#8221; means art, method or way. Taekwondo is a martial art that incorporates a number of different defense martial art styles borrowed from nations surrounding Korea. It is an art that has evolved for over 2000 years, with the modern one having aspects of some earlier styles such as T&#8217;ang-su, Kwon Su, Kwonpup, Subak(also called Taek kyon), Tae Kwonpup, judo, and Karate.</p>
<p>The earliest evidence of Taekwondo goes as far back as 50 BC. Martial art styles at the time involved a combination of various forms unarmed combat, aimed at developing speed, strength, and survival skills in young warriors. At this time, Korea was divided into 3 kingdoms, namely Koguryon (37BC- 668AD), Paekje (18BC- 600AD), and Silla (57BC- 935AD). Taekwondo was first developed in Koguryon, but the Silla kingdom is credited with its growth and influence. Silla unified the three kingdoms after it defeated the Paekje and Koguryon kingdoms in 600 AD and 668 AD respectively, led by an elite nobility of young men, called Hwa Rang Do(meaning the way of the flowering manhood).</p>
<p>The Hwa Rang Do warriors were devoted to developing the mind and body in service to the Silla kingdom. They spent their lives studying history, Taek kyon, Confucian philosophy, ethics, military tactics and Buddhist morality. They lived by an ancient honor-code referred to as &#8220;The 5 Codes of Human Conduct&#8221;. These were loyalty, trustworthiness, filial duty, justice, and valor. Over time, the Hwa Rang Do transformed from a military outfit to a group that specialized in music and poetry. Taek kyon became a recreational activity and a sport. When the Koryo Dynasty came to power in 936 AD, it reverted to being a military art.</p>
<p>People later traveled to different places to learn other forms of martial arts. Those who were experts in Subak also begun teaching the public. The Yi dynasty (1397-1907), oversaw the writing of the first Taekwondo book. It was also at this time that Subak gradually begun to fade with people preferring to use debate instead of military options to settle conflicts. Thus, the art reverted to being a recreational sport again. When Japan conquered Korea in 1909 and ruled there for 36years, the need to learn Subak as a military art was once again rekindled. After the liberation of Korea, there arose many variants of Taek kyon due to the influence of other forms of martial arts. The first Taekwondo School started at this time. Thereafter, more schools came about with each claiming to teach the ancient Subak. At the height of the Korean War, the various forms of Taek kyon were harmonized and referred to as Taekwondo.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kuk Sool Won is probably one of the greatest martial arts unknown to most of the world right now. It&#8217;s not only an art, it is a complete system of martial arts stemming from ancient teachings of the buddhist monks, the royal courts of Korea, and Family Tribal martial arts of Korea. From punches and kicks, to pressure points strikes and grapples, this art truly covers it all, including weapons training upon reaching first degree black belt. To top it off, this art is not only a young man&#8217;s arena, it&#8217;s for all people of all ages.</p>
<p>Kuk Sool Won covers an extensive variety of techniques and martial art methods, but it is not merely concerned with the physical methods of attack and defense: Kuk Sool Won includes the study of healing techniques, the development of internal power, and physical conditioning. Training in Kuk Sool Won also helps to instill self-confidence and self-discipline, a calm self-assurance, and the psychological and spiritual values, which are traditionally associated with the martial character. Mental and physical well-being are of primary importance in Kuk Sool.</p>
<p>Although Kuk Sool as it is practiced today is relatively new, its roots stretch far and deep to the very beginnings of the history of Korea. As students of Kuk Sool, this early history and the ancient traditions upon which our art is founded should be as important to us as the physical techniques themselves, for it is only from our understanding and appreciation of these classical roots that we are able to grow as students of the martial arts.</p>
<p>Etiquette above all else is taught to all KSW students, because it doesn&#8217;t matter if you can kick the highest or break the most bones, it&#8217;s being able to have the control to stop yourself from getting into trouble that helps the most, and that&#8217;s where martial arts etiquette comes into play. I have been to several other martial arts centers and taken a few, I have found that this art combines everything I found in several styles into one complete style. Kuk Sool Won may not always look like its anything tough to do, but then again, if you have never walked on fire you never know how much it burns. In other words, come give it a try and see yourself become a stronger, better person.</p>

If you were to fully review martial arts, you would find a vast array of systems; each with its own set of techniques that have been perfected over the ages. For the most part, martial arts do not encourage the use of weapons in combat, though exceptions do exist.</p>
<p>In studying martial arts, you&#8217;ll find the earliest form originated in China more than 2500 years ago. Some philosophies hold that martial arts systems were adapted into various forms in Japan and other eastern countries. Another school of thought believes that these other countries developed their own original styles and systems of martial arts. Unfortunately, their origins were not well documented and therefore largely unknown.</p>
<p>Images of martial arts, as North Americans see them, were conjured up by Hollywood. Filmmakers will have us believe that martial arts are part of the Oriental mystique, and that kung fu, judo, karate and tae kwon do belong exclusively to the Oriental countries. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.</p>
<p>Martial arts have evolved from countries around the globe. For every person practicing tae kwon do, there is someone doing a French form of kickboxing called &#8220;savate&#8221;. For every Judo, there is a sambo.</p>
<p>Through the centuries, people the world over have developed a range of martial arts systems. While each is distinct in its own way, there are many similarities. The primary function of martial arts is a means of effective self-defense during combat. Watch a martial arts performer, and you will often see a blur of arms and legs. But true martial artists don&#8217;t just flail around to punch and kick. They use their bodies to execute single or multiple pre-choreographed movements that have been perfected over time. When executed properly, these moves can be lethal weapons in their own right.</p>
<p>Practicing martial arts, in any of its forms, requires a high degree of skill. The routines and techniques that students perfect over the years form a fighting vocabulary. Students with larger vocabularies become more highly skilled fighters. Each routine takes a great deal of time to perfect, and true martial artists have a large repertoire to choose from. In times of need, the skill of the artist depends on his or her ability to use the right technique at the appropriate time.</p>
<p>Of course, there is more to martial arts than the perfect execution of movement. Martial arts were created for use in combat. Serious combat. For this reason, success at martial arts means training and using your mind, as well as your body. Invariably, every form of martial arts is characterized by a very conscious application of force, utilized to achieve maximum effect.</p>
<p>Learning karate, or judo, or tae kwon do is one thing. Studying the martial arts is something altogether different. If you wish to be a true student of the martial arts, you must concentrate with your mind while you perform with your body.</p>

Although personal violence comes into our life from time to time, it is mostly on the television news. It has not always been this way. People have been forced to defend themselves, their homes, and their families from deadly personal attack since the time we all lived in caves and dressed in animal furs. The history of martial arts begins there. It begins when the man had to be able to fight to defend himself or lose his life to a stronger and better fighter.</p>
<p>The story of martial arts begins with the development of a warrior tradition in human development. Methods of self defense were developed using weapons when they were available and bare hands and feet when they were not. Once these skills were learned, they were passed on from generation to generation. The clans that learned them well and perfected them the fastest were the ones that survived.</p>
<p>Many of these early forms of martial arts were transformed as weapons began to improve. Wooden clubs were replaced with swords, and slings were replaced with crossbows. The techniques of martial arts became the techniques of warfare. One of the earliest events in the development of martial arts as a spiritual practice was the writings of a man named Bodhidarma who lived around 550 A.D. He was credited with associating the unarmed martial arts of the time with the meditative practices of Zen Buddhism. He is also said to have influenced the Shaolin priests of China. The Shaolins were later introduced to popular culture through the television show, Kung Fu.</p>
<p>Over the years, many of the Asian martial arts disciplines were formalized through a system of teacher and learner. The teacher was the experienced Master who passed on the knowledge of the arts to his students. Some of the forms became highly stylized with tests being administered to pass to a higher rank, but others remained rooted in the teacher/student method. Experience was the important thing and training.</p>
<p>In recent times, martial arts have entered popular culture via the medium of movies and television. Many events such as &#8220;full contact karate&#8221; events and &#8220;mixed martial arts&#8221; (MMA) competitions have replaced boxing as popular television and arena events. Although some martial arts purists have decried the competitions as straying away from the meditative and self discipline aspects of the traditions, they continue to attract much interest and have helped spread knowledge of martial arts to a wider audience.</p>
